I saw the most amazing video last week and would like it share it with everyone.  My son was on the computer and went to YouTube.  Under search, he put in the words Water Buffalo, Lions and Alligator.

It was filmed by a tourist on an African Safari and you can hear the tour guide and tourists talking and watching this act of nature unfolding right before their eyes.

Let me tell you right up front that I am a nature and animal lover to the umph degree and can’t stand to see or hear about animals being hurt.  There are only three times in my life that there has been an exception to my last statement.  The first time was when an ant bit my foot and the second time was involving a bee bite.  Both times my rage took over my common sense and the outcome was not good for those two creatures.  The third time involved back widow spider that was going across my dining room floor at break-neck speed and was intent on causing me severe bodily damage.

With that said, let me tell you that I couldn’t take my eyes off  this video my son was showing me for one second.  I don’t want to spoil it for you by telling you the content.  Just believe that you will be amazed and will love the surprising ending.  The tour guide can be heard commenting that in his years, he had never seen anything like this.  The odds of stumbling across this scenario would be a once in a lifetime experience.

Today is "Elephant Appreciation Day"

When I found that out this morning, it made me think of our zoo here, which made me think of Ruby which made me think of growing up here and going to see Ruby when she was just a baby at the Phoenix Zoo.  Do you remember Ruby?  I used to go visit her with my Grandmother (Mama Lucy) and my sisters when I was growing up.  That was back when the Children’s Zoo was MUCH smaller than it is now and you could get really close to her.  I actually have a picture on my frig. of me petting Ruby’s trunk.  I have so many good memories of going to the zoo with my grandmother, but the highlight was always seeing the baby elephant, our Ruby.
I watched her grow through the years and become quite a star when she started her painting, I even have a copy of one of her paintings hanging on my office wall at home.  I was/am a huge fan.  She was always the most special thing at the zoo!!
When Ruby passed away it was very close to the time that my beloved Mama Lucy did as well, which in a way was touching because of all the time we spent visiting Ruby together.  I will always remember Ruby and be grateful for the many happy hours my family and I got to spend with her!!
